How to annotate a PDF while presenting on Mac

A PDF is often the clearest handout and the hardest thing to explain live without covering it in marks that no longer make sense.

Load the PDF before you present

In TeacherPalette Whiteboard, use the PDF loading action to bring a PDF onto the canvas. It is not a drag-and-drop workflow. Once loaded, move between pages and write, highlight, or draw arrows over the material as you explain.

Use the right mark for the job

Underline a phrase with a highlighter, box an entire region with a rectangle, and use an arrow when the audience needs to connect two parts of a page. For small text, a rectangular magnifier can show detail while preserving the surrounding document.

Keep a useful copy afterward

When the presentation is finished, export or print the annotated PDF. The writing remains layered over the original material, making it useful as a follow-up handout instead of a disposable live artifact.
